Schools may use computers
SURABAYA: The Surabaya municipality Education Office is planning to buy 10,000 used desktop computers equipped with Intel Pentium II processors.
Head of the Office Soeparno said on Wednesday that the computers would be procured using the office's budget, and they would be handed over to selected schools in Surabaya.
"The plan is aimed at enhancing the skills of students in using computers," he explained.
Having computers would also enable students schools and the Education Office to share a database online and exchange information, he added.
The office plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with PT Indosat and Microsoft's representative in Indonesia, in order that the companies could help the government by providing computer training. -- JP
