School renovation hits snags

TANGERANG: After an investigation, Tangerang municipality has found irregularities in the implementation of an ongoing elementary school renovation project, an official said on Thursday.

"We found discrepancies in column widths and the foundations," Tangerang Mayor Wahidin Halim said. "We will sue the contractor unless it remedies the defects."

Starting last week, renovation work on 221 dilapidated public elementary schools commenced. Some of the schools are in danger of collapse.
