School janitor killed in Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: A school janitor was found dead in unusual
circumstances in the Samudra district of North Aceh on Monday.

A worker at Lhokseumawe General Hospital said the body of 55-
year-old Misrianto Zakaria was brought in by policemen from Nisam
district.

His two hands were tied together and his body was covered in
bruises and cuts, he said.

Separately, police seized two guns and thousands of rounds of
ammunition from a truck in Baktia district, 40 kilometers east of
Lhokseumawe, on Monday.

North Aceh Police chief Supt. Syafei Aksal said four men,
including the driver, fled when the truck was stopped during a
police operation.

Abu Sofyan Daud, spokesman for the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) in
North Aceh, denied that the weapons belonged to his camp. "It's
just the security forces' propaganda campaign," he said. (50/edt)
