Scholarships for shuttlers

JAKARTA (JP): Trisakti University presented scholarships to
families of the 16-member Thomas Cup team in a modest ceremony at
its campus Monday.

The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) chairman Subagyo
Hadisiswoyo said education was needed not only for shuttlers but
also for other sportsmen to prepare for their future after
retirement.

Trisakti Foundation chairman K. Sindhunata said that the
education policy in Indonesia did not give chances for athletes
to study and train at the same time.

"Athletes are usually forced to choose between study and
sports. We must improve that system." (yan)
