Scholarship for local students
JAKARTA (JP): Guinness Brewing Worldwide and Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), announced yesterday they would sponsor a full-time Master's degree scholarship at the University of Leeds in Britain.
The scholarship is open to Indonesians and will be awarded for the l997/l998 academic year starting next September.
The scholarships are for students wanting to study Communications, Development Studies, International Studies, Politics of International Resources Development and Sociology at a post-graduate level.
Guinness Brewing managing director Brendon O' Neill said "we hope that the winner of the scholarship will benefit from the opportunity to study in the United Kingdom and apply their newly acquired skills to make a real contribution to the economic and social life of their home countries."
The scholarship will cover all tuition fees, living expenses, return tickets and allowances, including an allowance toward the cost of books and equipment.
Winners of this year's award will be joined by winners from Malaysia, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and the Seychelles.
Applicants should have, or be about to obtain, a Bachelor S1 degree with a minimum GPA 3.0 from 4.0 score and be aged between 20-35 years. Closing date for applications is on Jan. 24, l997.
