SBJ and PT Siemens

Referring to your article Siemens workers ask for their jobs back published on March 25, 2003, please read our statement regarding the issue:

1. It is clear that these workers are not employed by PT Siemens Indonesia. They have been assigned to PT Siemens Indonesia by their respective employees, namely PT Beton Cilegon Agung, PT Hardy & Kee and PT Inovasi Teknik, to fill positions as drivers and office boys.

2. It is obvious the status of these workers is they are not employees of PT Siemens Indonesia. The employment status should be very clear to the workers due to the fact that they receive their monthly salaries from their employers, as indicated by legitimate receipts. (This employment situation was confirmed by a ruling from the Labor Dispute Settlement Board (P4D), number 696/P.585/14/IX/PHK/XI-2002.)

3. Serikat Buruh Jabotabek (SBJ) has no relationship whatsoever with PT Siemens Indonesia, which already has its own labor union, Serikat Pekerja Siemens Indonesia. Thus, it is clear that SBJ was established by individuals who do not have any employment relationship with PT Siemens Indonesia.
