Save it in RTF to discard a macro virus

If you receive a Winword file that contains a macro virus, Winword will remind you if you have left the virus warning option activated. You can get rid of the virus by copying the content to a new, blank Winword document. This tip was already given in the past. A more easy solution is just to save the downloaded document in the Rich Text Format (RTF) file format.

Just click on File, then on Save as. When the Save as dialog box appears, go to the Save as type and select Rich Text Format. That should get rid of the virus, and you can always use the file in Winword after that.
