Sanata Darma marks 50th anniversary

In commemoration of its 50th anniversary, the private Sanata Darma University of Yogyakarta has been conducting various activities since May, from formal events to community service and outreach programs, which are to run until the end of the year.

The May 7 opening of the "Golden Party" was marked by a general lecture on "The Role of a University in Developing Intelligent Indonesians by 2020" by Coordinating Minister of People's Welfare Alwi Shihab

In June, it organized a mass circumcision ceremony, held a book launch and a seminar on the university, while July saw another book launch as well as a cultural fair.

This month, the anniversary committee has planned a seminar on micro-controller for Aug. 20 and a three-day retreat for students starting on Aug. 26.

Several other book launches and another general lecture by noted education expert and former legislator Mochtar Buchori are to be held in September.
