Sahid group builds 33-story tower
JAKARTA (JP): The Sahid Jaya group has commenced the
construction of a 33-story office building on Jl. Jend. Sudirman,
South Jakarta, which is expected to cost about US$86 million to
complete.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held yesterday to mark the
start of construction work. The tower is expected to be completed
by the end of 1997.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Public Housing Akbar
Tandjung, Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Real Estate
Developers Enggartiasto Lukita and the president of PT Hotel
Sahid Jaya International -- the owner of the building --
Sukamdani S. Gitosardjono.
Sukamdani said that the Sahid office tower is part of the six-
hectare Pura Kencana Indah "superblock," including the five-star
Sahid Jaya Hotel, Istana Sahid Apartment and the 50-story Sahid
Berkah Hotel project. The latter, with a planned capacity of 650
rooms, is expected to be completed in 1998.
He said that Sahid office tower would have a total space of
54,435 square meters.
The building will be equipped with a mosque with capacity of
700 people, he said. (32)
