S. Sumatra coal exports up

JAKARTA (JP): South Sumatra exported 63,608 tons of coal worth US$2.28 million in February, up from 50,817 tons at $1.82 million in January, Antara reported yesterday.

Head of South Sumatra's industry and trade office, Hariasa Adiwijata, told the news agency Monday that the February exports went to Malaysia, while the January exports were sent to Malaysia (with a foreign exchange earning of $1.58 million) and Thailand ($238,563).

He said coal was the ninth largest export earner in South Sumatra which generated $82.03 million from its export of 39 non- oil commodities in February. (13)
