S. Koreans deported from Tangerang

TANGERANG (JP): Thirty South Korean workers here in Tangerang have been deported from the country for violations of immigration rules.

The 30 people had reportedly frequently breached immigration rules by having expired visas or overstaying permits, said Dody M. Wibowo, chief of the Tangerang Immigration office.

"The South Koreans are coming from various working positions," Dody said on Thursday. However, he did not elaborate further details on the cases.

Dody said there were about 1,300 foreign workers working in various companies in Tangerang, of which 50 percent were South Koreans.

Expatriates working in Tangerang include Americans, Japanese, Indians, Australians and Taiwan nationals. (41/edt)
