S. Jakarta phones disrupted

JAKARTA (JP): Cable repairs have disrupted 3,900 phone lines in South Jakarta since April.

Nyoman G. Wiryanata, head of PT Telkom's South Jakarta office, was quoted by Antara yesterday as saying several customers had complained.

"Telkom is conducting major cable repairs by replacing old cables with optic fibers and air cables," Nyoman said.

He said 600 of the 3,900 disrupted lines were served by the Cipete automated telephone center, which covered areas on Jl. Pangkalan Jati I and II, Jl. Jati Indah I to VII, Jl. Rangu I to IV, and Jl. Cemara Ito V.

Another 2,400 disrupted lines were served by the Kalibata automated telephone system which covered Jl. Samali, Jl. H. Ayub, Jl. Kalibata Selatan and the Garuda housing complex. (cst)
