Rural Chinese

I refer to my letter The myth of the China threat in The Jakarta Post on Feb. 29, 2000. I would like to correct a typographical error that occurs in the last paragraph.

The sentence should have read: "To dispel the myth ... a poor rural China where 70 percent (not 2 percent) of the Chinese live." I apologize for the error.
