Rp3.8m stolen from City Hall
JAKARTA (JP): A thief has stolen a total of Rp 3.8 million (US$1,617) from the administration inspectorate office, located on the 17th floor of City Hall.
"The theft is believed to have taken place on Monday night. The thief was probably someone who knew the situation in the office," an officer of the Central Jakarta Police Precinct said on Tuesday.
During a preliminary investigation, police found that the doors in the office were not forcibly opened, except a drawer of the table belonging to an employee, Slamet, he said.
It was Slamet who officially reported the theft to the police.
The officer said that Rp 3 million of the money belonged to Handi Yono, another employee, while the remaining Rp 800,000 belonged to Slamet.
The city's administration inspector, Djoko Brotosurjono, admitted that some equipment at his office had been stolen in the past two years, including a fax machine and two computers. (jun/yns)
