Rp 9 billion for Poso refugees

PALU, Central Sulawesi: The central government has provided Rp
9 billion in relief aid for at least 79,000 refugees from Poso
currently accommodated in Palu and several regencies in Central
Sulawesi.

The families fled their village homes in Poso regency
following religious and communal clashes that killed hundreds of
people in May of last year.

Head of the provincial social affairs bureau Azikin Suyuti
said on Friday that the aid would be transferred to the municipal
and regency administrations handling the refugees.

He stressed the importance of control and evaluation in fund
distribution and warned against any duplication of data on
refugees in settlements concerned, which will receive a monthly
allocation of Rp 45,000 per family. (24)
