Rp 78 million taken in armed robbery at showroom

JAKARTA (JP): South Jakarta Police detectives are searching for four men, one of them armed, who stole Rp 78 million from a 51-year-old woman on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Endang Sri Rachmini, intended to buy a car from PT Kebayoran Intan Motor showroom on Jl. Fatmawati.

With the permission of Agus, a salesman at the showroom, Endang borrowed a Feroza jeep from the showroom, stopped at a nearby BCA and withdrew Rp 78 million.

"Upon reaching the showroom, a motorcycle approached her and the driver grabbed the bag containing the Rp 78 million. Another motorcycle, carrying two people, followed the first motorcycle," South Jakarta Police detectives chief, Capt. Rycko Amelza Daniel, told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

"People at the showroom tried to run after the two motorcycles. But they stopped after one of the robbers took out a firearm and fired at them," he said.

He said his men were finding it difficult to identify the four criminals and the type of firearm the robber used. (ylt)
