Rp 6b to renovate Muara Angke market

JAKARTA: City market operator PD Pasar Jaya spent a total of Rp 6 billion (US$635,000) to renovate the Muara Angke traditional market in North Jakarta.

PD Pasar director Prabowo Soenirman expected more buyers to come to the market as it is now cleaner and more comfortable.

"Its condition is now much better as we replaced the 30-year- old building with a new one," he said on the sidelines of the market inauguration ceremony on Friday.

The market is located on a 3,500 meter square compound on Jl. Pelelangan. It accommodates 249 kiosks, Prabowo said.

PD Pasar is set to renovate 26 traditional markets across the city this year and had allocated Rp 260 billion to renovate 20 of them. The renovation of the other six would be in cooperation with private investors. -- JP
