Rp 26b allocated for bridges

BEKASI: The Bekasi administration will soon start constructing two bridges in Muaragembong subdistrict, a project that will cost Rp 26 billion (US$3 million), regent Saleh Manaf said on Friday.

One of the bridges, which will span to 100 meters, is to connect four villages: Pantai Bhakti, Pantai Bahagia, Pantai Sederhana and Pantai Makmur. The other, 60-meter bridge over Kali Mati River, will connect Pantai Sederhana and Pantai Mekar villages.

"The bridges will give access to the isolated villagers whose main mode of transportation is small rafts," Manaf said, adding that the bridges were expected to be completed next year. -- JP
