Rp 24m stolen from official's car

TANGERANG: Two unidentified men riding a RX King motorcycle managed to make off with Rp 24 million in cash they took from an official's car parked inside the Tangerang municipal office car park on Tuesday.

Aap Syarifudin, an official with the Capital Investment and Permit Office (LPMP) said that he had just withdrawn the money from Bank International Indonesia on Jl. Daan Mogot at about 11 a.m.

"I noticed two men on a motorcycle following my car from the bank, but I did not suspect anything," he said.

He parked the car inside the office car park on Jl. Satria Sudirman, and had lunch at the cafeteria.

But when he returned to his car to take the money before going to the office, he found that one of the car windows had been smashed and the money was gone.

A similar incident happened last week to an employee of an expedition company who lost Rp 100 million that he had just withdrawn from the same bank. He had kept the money inside the car parked right in front of a notary office on Jl. Kisamaun when it was taken.

Tangerang Police said they were still investigating the case.-- JP
