Rp 2.2b sought to rebuild school

YOGYAKARTA: Gadjahmada University is seeking Rp 2.2 billion
(approximately US$1 million) from the government to rebuild its
three-story building that caught fire earlier this month.

If the proposal is approved, the renovation project will start
in April at the latest, the project manager M. Munandar said here
yesterday.

He added that the proposed budget would be allocated not only
to finance the renovation project but also to purchase new
facilities such as chairs, tables, filing cabinets and computers
to replace those destroyed in the fire.

Meanwhile, Sofian Efendi, an assistant to the university
rector, proposed that the university insure all of its facilities
to minimize loses in cases of future accidents, Antara
reported.(pan)
