Rp 1b prize for 450 golfers at Finna Cup tournament
JAKARTA (JP): About 450 golfers are vying for a total cash
prize of Rp 1 billion (US$125,000) in a two-day Finna Cup
tournament at the Finna Golf & Country Club Resort in Prigen,
Pandaan, East Java, from Saturday to Sunday.
Dwi Ardianti, the club's spokeswoman told The Jakarta Post
from Pandaan on Thursday that apart from the Rp 1 billion, there
would also be hole-in-one prizes of three cars, door prizes and
lucky draws.
The three cars awarded to the winners of the hole-in-one at
the 18-hole course are a Peugeot 306, Opel Montera and Timor
DOHC.
"We will also give away round trip air tickets to Hong Kong on
Cathay Pacific and to Bangkok on Thai Airways, and a variety of
other prizes in the lucky drawers," Dwi said.
Dwi added that the 450 golfers competing in the tournament are
members of the club and invited guests. They included 150
expatriates and 300 Indonesians.
"Each player will receive a golf carry bag filled with various
prizes and giveaways worth over Rp 250,000." she said.
Richard T. Wilson, the resort's general manager said that they
had an overwhelming response from their members and supporters in
the generous sponsorship and participation in this year's Finna
Cup.
"The tournament has grown into a major event not only the
members but also the business community of East Java as well,"
Wilson said.
The tournament is sponsored by Sari Wangi (tea producer), Bank
International Indonesia, PT Merpati Nusantara, PT Gudang Garam
(tobacco company), PT Kapsari, PT Mega Kertas, and other local
companies.
Dwi said this is the third time the club has held such a
tournament. "We have always held the tournament annually since
1997."
The Finna Golf & Country Club Resort was established in 1993.
Besides the 18-hole course, it is also equipped with grass tennis
courts, a clubhouse, swimming pool, 30 deluxe cottages and two
VIP cottages.
The Finna Golf & Country Club is a member of the Surabaya
based Sekar Group which runs the Majapahit Mandarin Oriental
Hotel Surabaya, supermarkets and a manufacturer of seafood and
cashew products.
Membership fees are Rp 125 million for the individuals and Rp
200 million for cooperate and families. Term membership are also
available at Rp 17.5 million for one year and Rp 25 million for
