Rp 1b in cheques stolen
JAKARTA (JP): Central Jakarta Police are investigating how Rp 1 billion (US$429,184) in cheques went missing from a private company in the Bank Dagang Negara (BDN) building on Jl. Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta.
Lt. Col. M. Ibrahim confirmed yesterday that police were investigating the case.
Adi Harjo, a director of foreign-exchange-brokerage company PT Salindo Perdana Finance, told the police that several cheques were stolen from a cash box in the company's dealing room during lunch time on Friday. Adi reported the case Friday, according to Ibrahim.
Adi told the police that the company, on the ninth floor of the BDN building, had four staff working in the dealing room.
Adi and his staff refuse to talk to reporters. (jun)
