Rp 190m stolen, victim shot

JAKARTA: Two armed robbers stole Rp 190 million and shot at their intended victim in broad daylight on the crowded bridge over the Ciliwung river that connects Jl. H.R.Rasuna Said with Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto in Central Jakarta.

Ahmad Mason, the victim, was the driver at Warren and Achyar, a law firm on Jl. Pekalongan, Menteng, Central Jakarta. He was shot twice, in his back and buttocks, but was not seriously wounded and still managed to drive the car to the office.

Abdul had earlier taken two employees of the law firm, Joko and Dirga, to withdraw Rp 190 million from BCA Bank on Jl. Sudirman. The money was needed to pay the monthly salaries of the law firm's employees.

Two robbers on a motorbike suddenly shot at the car's left- hand window while the car was stuck in a traffic jam on the bridge.

Both Ahmad and Joko, who sat in the front seat of the car, immediately ducked to avoid the shots. --JP
