Rp 11m stolen from department store

JAKARTA (JP): Thieves have stolen Rp 11 million (US$4,700) in
cash and a bundle of clothes from the Ramayana department store
on Jl. Wahid Hasyim, Central Jakarta.

"The police are questioning six Ramayana employees, including
two security guards and a warehouse attendant," a police officer
at the Central Jakarta Police precinct said yesterday.

Mochammad Yamin, an assistant to the security coordinator of
the Ramayana Group, said the thieves might have entered the
building on Thursday night by breaking ceilings of the third
floor.

The thieves then went up to the fifth floor, stealing about Rp
11 million from cash boxes, Yamin said.

He said the thieves left a hammer near a safe deposit box.
"They apparently tried to open the box, but they couldn't," he
added. (jun)
