Royal row in Cirebon

CIREBON, West Java: A row has erupted over the succession of the throne of Kacirebonan, one of six tiny sultanates in Cirebon.

The quarrel has involved all the sultanates because the princes and princesses are all related.

The Cirebon regency has insisted that the matter be resolved internally and amicably, Antara reported.

Regent chief Kumaedhi Syafrudin stressed that taking the matter to court, as some sultans have suggested, would disparage the name of the sultanates as well as the regency.

The other five sultanates in the regency are Kasepuhan, Kanoman, Keprabonan, Peguron Pejagrahan and Krapyak. (03)
