Rose is Rose
Rose is Rose
Reading Give me back my hot spot in The Jakarta Post, June 23,
2001, I would now like to give my comment.
I was first attracted to The Jakarta Post because of its
crossword puzzles, which then were not as complicated as they
have become.
Then came the comics section, which is still running until
now, minus Blondie. How I missed Blondie after it was
discontinued.
But it was Rose is Rose which made up for everything. Strange
as it may be, I have not seen this particular comic strip in any
other newspaper.
Well, Rose is Rose instantly stole my heart the first time I
saw it. The style which qua drawing, topic, characters and
personaging is original and healthy for all ages. This made me
collect the comic strip every single day.
When my grandson who lives with his parents in the USA turned
four, I started sending them up for his mother to read them for
him. He was then about the same age as Pasqual.
As sending them by post was expensive, I used to wait for
someone leaving for the USA. The boy used to look forward to this
comic.
He has now turned 13 and when the family recently came over
for a short holiday, I found this 172 centimeter-tall boy who is
in the eighth grade, will you believe it, comfortably stretching
on the carpet in his room with his nose over the comics of the
Post.
So, shall I, also on behalf of this particular grandson of
mine, thank the Post for the so many enjoyable moments with Rose
is Rose.
Perhaps we may even earn a medallion for being so faithful.
