Ronald dominates Annual Session

JAKARTA (JP): A large political gathering such as the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly always brings out a plethora of public figures, but this time they may have some competition from a yellow clothed mannequin in stripped socks -- Ronald McDonald.

The McDonalds stand was one of the first setup inside the Assembly compound and visitors were already lining-up on Sunday.

Visitors cannot miss the stand with the McDonalds mascot in its usual pose sitting on a bench in front.

Most of the stands are located on the left side of the plenary building. Workers were rushing Sunday afternoon to get the stands ready. One stand which is popular year-after-year is the Air Mancur herbal medicine stand, was also being setup.

Besides food and outlets, the National Information Coordinating Body, formerly the ministry of information, also has a display of photographs of the Assembly's activities since the election of President Abdurrahman Wahid in October.

State airlines Garuda Indonesia and Merpati also opened ticket outlets on the same location. (jun)
