Rolex snatched by gang of thugs

A group of four men on motorcycles relieved a businessman of his gold-plated Rolex wristwatch on Jl. Nelayan in Roa Malaka, West Jakarta.

Lim Haryanto Widjaya, 66, reported the case to the local police, saying that the robbery took place on Sunday morning as he got out of his BMW sedan in front of his friend's house.

Lim said the watch was worth Rp 19 million (US$8,695).

He said that one of the gang members suddenly put a sickle around his neck and grabbed his watch, while another threatened to kill his driver if he tried to help his employer.

"They forced me to take off my watch," said Lim, adding that the incident took place in a matter of seconds.

"Thus, I had no chance to identify their faces." (bsr)
