Gigi to tour U.S. cities again
Local outfit Gigi, a rock band that has scored hits such as Angan (Daydream) and Terbang (Flying) is expected to stage a four-date show in cities in the United States.
Starting on Sept. 16, the band will play arenas in east-coast U.S. cities.
The band will open their tour on Sept. 16 in Whiskey Dix Saloon, Philadelphia, before heading on to Washington when they will rock the crowd in Jammin Java club on Sept. 18.
After a five-day break, Gigi will continue their tour by performing at South Ballroom in West Lafayette on Sept. 24, before wrapping up their tour in Boston on Sept. 25, management of Gigi said in a statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Monday.
This is the second time in a year that Gigi is performing in the U.S.
Earlier on April, Gigi performed before American crowds in Seattle, Houston, Los Angeles and New York.
Following the April U.S. tour, the band was on the brink of breaking up, with guitarist Dewa Budjana pursuing a solo project and lead singer Armand Maulana leaving for Hollywood to join talent contest Rock Star: INXS.
Gigi, which was at the peak of its popularity in the mid- 1990s, is artistically in the doldrums, with its best efforts being a greatest hits collection and the soundtrack to a dismal movie. -- JP

Clarkson cancels gigs due to bronchitis
LAS VEGAS: Bronchitis has forced Kelly Clarkson to cancel three more concerts in Nevada and Washington.
The "Breakaway" singer called off two performances in California last week. Clarkson had hoped to be well enough to perform, but was still feeling ill at a sound check on Friday, according to a statement from RCA Music Group.
Clarkson had been scheduled to perform on Friday in Reno, on Saturday in Las Vegas and on Monday in Spokane, Washington, as part of her "Hazel Eyes" tour.
The canceled concerts will be rescheduled, and purchased tickets will be valid for the new dates, the statement said. -- AP
