Robbery in DPR/MPR complex

JAKARTA (JP): Police are investigating the Tuesday morning robbery of computers worth hundreds of millions of rupiah from the House of Representatives/People's Consultative Assembly (DPR/MPR) complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta.

The robbery reportedly occurred in a hall of the Nusantara V building, which is usually occupied by members of the Ad Hoc Committee of the MPR Working Committee.

"Robbers also broke into the Media Center on the second floor of the Nusantara III building. This center has 20 computers donated by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The robbers failed to enter that hall," Antara said quoting a police report.

The robbers reportedly damaged the alarm system and scratched TV monitors.

Contacted separately by The Jakarta Post, Central Jakarta Police chief of detectives Capt. Hendra Suhartiyono said he was unaware of the robbery.

"There has been no report of this to this point. I have heard nothing about this," Hendra said late Tuesday evening. (ylt)
