Robbers rob a truck in Cikampek

JAKARTA (JP): A truck carrying textiles from Bandung, West Java, to Jakarta was robbed by a group of at least six people on the Cikampek-Jakarta toll road in the wee hours of the morning yesterday.

According to the driver, Endang Suherman, 31, he was taking a nap along with a passenger at the side of the freeway near the Cikarang area when a group of men pulled up in a white minibus.

"Suddenly, they tied our legs and closed our eyes and mouth with plastic bands," Endang told on-duty officers at the Bekasi police precinct.

He said that the robbers carried both of them inside the truck and later threw them out at the edge of the toll road in Bekasi before they sped off with the truck and the minibus.

Both victims were found by officers of the City Police highway patrol team who was passing the area.

According to City Police spokesman Lt. Col. A. Latief Rabar, all police members around the city have been assigned to stop the truck, which has a license plate number D 8668 ND.

"We hope that people will let us know if they see the vehicle," he said. (bsr)
