Robbers mobbed, shot to death

TANGERANG: Two separate incidents in Tangerang involving robbers targeting motorists resulted in their deaths early on Saturday.

In one incident, the robber, identified as Soleh, 30, was beaten to death by residents of Kedu Jaya village, Curug district, after attempting to mug Don Hon Piauw, a resident of Teluk Gong, North Jakarta.

The victim had stopped his car when he found that one of the tires was flat, when he was mugged by Soleh.

Soleh, a resident of Tari Kolot village, Cikande district, shot Don in the left leg as the latter tried to resist, then snatched his bag.

Upon hearing the gunfire, local residents chased, surrounded and mobbed the suspect, beating him to death.

In a separate incident, police shot a man, who remains unidentified, for trying to steal a motorcycle belonging to Ahmad, a resident of Kelapa Dua, Curug district.

Police officers chased the suspect and shot him to death after hearing residents shout. -- JP
