Robbers make off with Rp 5 million
JAKARTA (JP): Three unidentified men have robbed an official of the Ministry of Social Services and made away with Rp 5 million (more than US$2,000) after stabbing the victim near her office in Central Jakarta.
The official, Yubiratri, had just withdrawn the money from the Matraman branch of the BCA bank in the company of a staff member on Tuesday morning when three men on two motorcycles intercepted her, stabbed her and stole her bag containing the money, a check book, and a savings deposit book.
The 40-year-old division head of the directorate of moral rehabilitation said she was walking alone on Jl. Salemba Raya with Rp 5 million with her. She said the money was half of the total amount she withdrew from the bank. The other Rp 5 million was taken by her staff-member Sutardi to another bank. (05)
