Robbers in Bali net Rp 100 million

DENPASAR, Bali (JP): Two men made off with Rp 100 million in cash after a daylight robbery here on Thursday afternoon.

The robbery, on Jl. W.R. Supratman, occurred just 300 hundred meters from Bali Police Headquarters.

It took place after three company employees withdrew money from Bank Dagang Bali's central office on Jl. Gajah Mada and transported it by car to the Bank Dagang Bali branch on Jl. W.R. Supratman.

Two of the employees, Made Sudiarta and Made Suwela, were in the car with the money, while the other, Wayan Girisa, followed on a motorcycle.

As they neared W.R. Supratman branch, two men on a motorcycle cornered the car. One of them opened the door and pointed a gun at Sudiarta's head. He then grabbed the bag containing the money.

"Girisa tried to chase the robbers but stopped after they fired at him twice," a source said.

A police source told The Jakarta Post that the money belonged to clothing company Siddharta. (10)
