Robbers get empty safe

LHOKSEUMAWE, Aceh: Thieves breaking into a Lippo Bank here early last Friday ran away with an empty 800 kilogram safe, police said Saturday.

Police said the large safe contained only documents and bundles of cheque forms, Antara reported.

The theft was the second in the town this month. A group of armed robbers shot dead two employees of Bank Central Asia (BCA) and ran away with Rp 405 million (US$173,000) in cash on Feb. 4.

Police said thieves broke into the Lippo Bank building through the front door and left through the back door.
