Robbers attack Briton with sickle
JAKARTA: Five men in business attire, driving a sedan, robbed British citizen Jim O'Hara, 48, on Wednesday morning at his house on Jl. Kayu Putih in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta.
O'Hara's housemaid Kustiyah said the five asked her for the address of "Edi", but before she could reply, one of them took out a dagger, told her to be quiet and forced their in.
The other robbers were armed with pistols and a sickle. They locked the occupants of the house, including O'Hara's child, in a bathroom, and took away valuables.
O'Hara tried to defend his home against the robbers, and one of them hit him in the head with a sickle. He suffered minor injuries.
The robbers took away 700 grams of gold jewelry, two wrist watches, a camera and documents. The value and content of the documents were not made available. -- JP
