Robber suspect shot dead

TANGERANG (JP): Local police shot dead an alleged long-time criminal identified as Dadi, 35, in the wee hours on Tuesday, said Capt. A. Rahmad Wibowo, Tangerang Police detective chief.

"Dadi was known as one of a gang of robbers who have run their operation in Teluk Naga regency for quite some time," Rahmad said.

Dadi was reportedly shot in the leg and the back after resisting arrest at his house in Kampung Besar village in Teluk Naga, Rahmad said.

Among the robberies committed by Dadi were the Kebon Besar armed robbery totaling Rp 8.5 million in losses, a series of vehicle thefts and the looting of a shrimp pond in Teluk Naga.

"We're now tracking down three other suspects, identified as Asmad alias Deleng, Jumadi and another man whose identity is still unknown," Rahmad said. (41/edt)
