Road to be widened in Bintaro Jaya
JAKARTA (JP): The City Council has urged Jaya Real Property, the developer of the Bintaro Jaya housing complex in South Jakarta, to broaden Jl. Cempaka connecting the complex and a major road in the area to help ease traffic congestion.
Head of Commission D for development affairs Ali Wongso Sinaga said on Tuesday that according to the plan, the 1.5-kilometer- long street would be widened from 9 meters to 18 meters.
"The widening of the street is badly needed because the street can no longer accommodate vehicles driving on it," Ali said after leading a working meeting with representatives of the company.
Ali said the project would affect 105 families, with the clearance of land approved under Gubernatorial Decree No. 1367/1995. He said the land clearance was expected to be completed in April.
Ali said the official land value along the street was Rp 350,000 (US$70) per square meter, but the administration and the developer were still negotiating the price with land owners, some of whom refused the initial offer.
Ali said the developer owned 1,753 hectares of land in Bintaro, of which 500 to 600 hectares had been built into housing complexes. (ind)
