WONOSOBO, Central Java: Traffic between the Wonosobo and
Kebumen regencies was brought to a stop from Wednesday to
Thursday after a portion of the road in Karanganyar village,
Wadaslintang district, Wonosobo, sank after heavy rains.

A local Ministry of Public Works official, Sodikin, told The
Jakarta Post some 25 meters of the road had sunk on Thursday.
Heavy rains on Sunday caused further sections of the road to sink
up to 75 cm.

Wonosobo Regent Sarjono ordered drivers of public transport
not to raise fares, Rp 2,000 (US$0.8) per person, because of the
disaster.

Repairs to the road are expected to finish today and traffic
should be back to normal tomorrow, he said.
