'Road Show 1997' to begin today
JAKARTA (JP): Fifteen private companies will hold a four-day
workshop for graduates and final year students of Atma Jaya
Catholic University beginning today.
The workshop, called "Road Show 1997", will include
presentations and recruitment tests.
It is the result of close links between the companies and the
university. Many of the university's graduates fill executive
positions at banks, insurance and automotive companies.
The firms are Bank Lippo, Matahari Group, United Tractor, Bank
Danamon, Bali InBank, Pharos Indonesia, Bank Central Asia, PT
Astra Internasional, Bank Aspac, Bank Bira, PT Altrak 1978, BDNI
Life, PT Asuransi Dayin Mitra and PT Federal Motor.
Kartono, a senior branch officer of Bira Bank, officially
opened the program on campus Wednesday.
"The presentation includes a question and answer session for
students on important things related to a recruitment test."
The workshop on "How to pass a recruitment test" will be
presented by Bank Universal Monday. The presentations and
recruitment tests will be held by the other 14 companies from
Tuesday to Thursday.
The university's deputy to the rector in charge of academic
affairs, Yohanes Temaluru, said the program was organized to help
private companies find qualified and highly dedicated personnel.
He said Atma Jaya had closely cooperated with private
companies including PT. Astra since 1994 to provide on-the-job-
training for its students and to meet the demand for qualified
graduates.
Sudirgo Wibowo, the dean of Atma Jaya's Faculty of Psychology,
called on the companies to intensify cooperation in scientific
research projects.
He said private companies lack commitment in working with
universities on research projects, the results of which could be
used to improve company staff. (03)
