Road damaged by heavy trucks

BEKASI: The seven-kilometer road leading to Villa Bekasi Indah in Jejalen village, Tambun district, Bekasi, is badly damaged due to faulty drainage and heavy trucks that routinely pass over it, residents said.

Even worse, during the rainy season, the road becomes flooded, which only worsens the already-battered condition of the street, Antara reported.

The road can only support a maximum load of five tons, yet it is routinely used by trucks carrying loads of no less than 12 tons.

In response to the public outcry, Bekasi deputy regent Dimyati Syafruddin promised to coordinate with the local public works agency to restore the road.

"By next year at the latest, the road will have been restored," Dimyati said, adding that local residents should warn truck drivers about their loads when passing the road.-JP
