RMB buses with collectors

From Bisnis Indonesia

I recently read in the newspapers about the plans of the Jakarta passenger transportation company (PPD) to introduce the RMB (rute metode baru or new-method routes) involving six different pools on a trial basis. Up to now only a few buses use this RMB system.

According to PPD's public relations chief Hamim Busro, this measure is designed to improve the company's service to the public while raising revenues.

I concur that operating more RMB buses could improve the company's service. However, I doubt that it necessarily increases the PPD's revenues. The reason is that I often see crooked passengers putting less than the official fare in the box. Some even skip paying.

To solve this problem I suggest that attendants be placed on the RMB buses to watch the passengers and immediately confront those who have not paid.
