Rizal gets posthumous sporting honor
MEDAN, North Sumatra: In conjunction with National Sports Day on Sept. 9, the central government gave a posthumous award to the late North Sumatra Governor Rizal Nurdin on Friday for his dedication to sports in the province.
Rizal, who is also the former chairman of the North Sumatra Sports Committee (KONI), perished in the Mandala airplane crash on Monday. Before his death, Rizal actively took part in the National Student Sports Competition held in July in Medan, said Ardjoni Munir, the chief of North Sumatra's Youth and Sport Office. -- Antara
