Riswandha named professor

YOGYAKARTA: Renowned political analyst Riswandha Imawan was named on Saturday political science professor at the state-run Gadjah Mada University.

Riswandha, who obtained his undergraduate degree from the same university, assumed the professorship after teaching at the Yogyakarta-based institution for over 25 years, starting in 1979.

UGM vice rector Boma Wikan Tiyoso bequeathed the title on Riswandha after he delivered a lecture entitled: Political Parties in Indonesia: A Half-Hearted Endeavor to Discover Their Identity.

Born in Bangkalan, Madura on Jan. 17, 1955, Riswandha got his masters and doctorate on comparative politics and public administration from the Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, United States, in 1989. -- JP
