Rioters face seven months

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Government prosecutors are demanding seven months imprisonment for three workers whom they accused of taking part in the destructive April riots.

The prosecutors told the Medan District Court that the three workers were seen pelting the PT Ganda Sari Utama factory where they worked during a massive protest which escalated into a full scale riot.

All three defendants had pleaded guilty and 10 people testified against them during the trials, the Antara news agency reported.

The hearing was adjourned to July 5.

More than 80 workers and labor leaders are currently on trial in connection with the riot which left one businessman dead and dozens of factories damaged. (17)
