Riantini, Irne join Olympic bridge team

SEMARANG (JP): Riantini, the silver medalist at the 15th
National Games, and Irne Korengkeng were included on the women's
national bridge team for the Olympic Bridge competition at
Maastricht, the Netherlands, starting on Aug. 27.

Riantini and Irne will join Lusye Boyoh/Elita Sofyan and Vera
Damayanti/Lany Lim. Indonesia also will send their senior and
junior players to the event.

Riantini said on Saturday she was selected to join the team
not because she was a silver medalist at the 15th National Games,
but because she was a long-time participant of the national
training center.

"I was selected to go to the Netherlands after it was decided
that I was a national player who has trained for a long time at
the Jakarta training camp," Riantini said.

Riantini has performed well in national bridge events, winning
the Pahlawan Cup in Surabaya and being a member of the best team
during the KSAL Cup.

"My participation in the Netherlands will be my first time in
an international competition," Riantini said. (har)
