RI wins technology awards

JAKARTA: Indonesia could match the rest of the Asia-Pacific countries in mastering information technology, a minister said on Tuesday.

State Minister for Communication and Information Syamsul Mu'arif said he had reason to be optimistic after an Indonesian delegation won three awards at the Asia-Pacific software technology competition in Kuala Lumpur last week.

"This achievement gives up pride as it proves our competence in software development," Syamsul said after opening the APEC workshop on e-business and supply chain management here.

The Indonesian delegates, comprising telematics champions, won The Best Research and Development award and merit awards on tourism and industrial application of 10 categories they contested.

Syamsul said the Indonesian government would further boost the information technology as it had been acknowledged as one of the movers of world's economy. -- Antara
