RI wins gold in physics olympiad
BANGKOK: Indonesia has won six gold medals and two honorable mentions in the fourth Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) in Bangkok, Thailand, APhO president and head of the Indonesian delegation Yohanes Surya said on Monday.
Held between April 20 to April 29, 2003, at Mahidol University, the Indonesian delegation was one of 10 Asian country delegations to participate in this year's Olympiad. The others were Australia, Chinese Taipei, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Indonesia sent eight high school students to the Olympiad, the premier physics competition for Asian countries, and competed against 64 competitors.
APhO is modeled after the International Physics Olympiad with a similar level of difficulty.
