RI ups handicraft sales

JAKARTA (JP): The country expects to earn US$2 billion from
handicraft exports this year, the Indonesian Handicraft Producers
and Exporters Association projects.

"The handicraft sector is not affected by the economic crisis
because almost all of its raw materials are procured from locally
produced goods," the association's chairman, Rudy Lengkong, told
Antara on Friday.

Handicraft exports last year totaled $1.96 billion, a 101.95
percent increase from the previous year. (06)
