RI to host ICSW conference

JAKARTA: Jakarta will host the Asia-Pacific International
Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) conference, scheduled for Sept.
2 to Sept 6.

About 400 participants from 24 countries including Vietnam,
Japan, Lebanon, Jordan and Myanmar are expected to attend the
conference, chairman of the National Council for Social Welfare,
Bustanil Arifin, said after meeting with President Soeharto at
the Bina Graha presidential office yesterday.

"Indonesia is expected to take advantage of the conference to
share its poverty eradication program with the participants,"
said Bustanil who chairs the National Council for Social Welfare
from 1995 to 2000. (swe)
